WHAT?!?!?!

Quote:More than 2,000 city workers have been called up to serve in Iraq or Afghanistan since 9/11, costing the city $65 million, Rep. Anthony Weiner said yesterday.

"For every police officer taken off the streets of New York to serve in Fallujah, New York taxpayers are footing the bill," he said.

Well, there seems to be some confusion here. the media is portraying Iraq as a place where no one wants the U.S. (they also seem to forget that other countries are there too). But, the troops (most of them at least) are saying that the majority of the people there are glad that they (the troops) are there. The media claims that the Iraqi government doesn't want us there, but a recent article shows otherwise.

NYC Mayor Bloomberg has passed a bill putting a new toll on NY

s lower west side that will cost cars $8.00 and trucks $13. - $16.00 to come into the city via the Brooklyn Bridge.

This bill now goes up to Albany and basically will be one of the first monumental acts of our new governor, David Paterson. There never has been a toll to come into NYC via the Brooklyn Bridge, an historic and oldest bridge linked to NYC. Let's all take a moment to pray for our newest governor's ...

Due to the many and severe rain falls this spring, many areas of Kentucky are so severely flooded that schools had to be closed and affected travel.

Floods are no joke.

(CNN) -- After nearly four years of hoping, waiting and praying, an Ohio family learned Sunday their missing son died in Iraq.

"It hurts -- it really hurts. You go through four years of hope," said Carolyn Maupin, whose son, Staff Sgt. Keith Matthew Maupin, was captured by insurgents in April 2004.

Crane Crushes NYC Buildings; 4 Dead

NEW YORK, Sat Mar 15, 10:36 PM

A crane rising 19 stories alongside a skyscraper under construction toppled like a tree across a city block Saturday, crashing into apartment buildings, killing four people and setting off a scramble for survivors.

The crane split into pieces as it fell, pulverizing a four-story townhouse and demolishing parts of three other buildings. One man was pulled from the townhouse 3 1/2 hours after the building was crushed.

A California meat company on Sunday issued the largest beef recall in history, 143 million pounds, some of which was used in school lunch programs, Department of Agriculture officials announced. The recall by the Westland/Hallmark Meat Company, based in Chino, Calif., comes after a widening animal-abuse scandal that started after the Humane Society of the United States distributed an undercover video on Jan. 30 that showed workers kicking sick cows and using forklifts to force them to walk.
